Gary Coupland MBE
Since 1985, Gary has been the Singing Kettle's Mr Music Man. The Singing Kettle is, however, only one aspect of Gary's musical talent. He can play a wide range of music, and has played trombone with Kenny Ball and accordion with Sir Jimmy Shand. Gary is a fine ambassador of Scottish music, whether it be through his own compositions, entertaining visitors to Scotland, or playing at ceilidhs and weddings. Gary is married to Karen and has three lovely daughters, Gemma, Lisa and Caroline.

- Won the First Prize for best music pupil at Dumfries Academy.
- Achieved Diplomas in Music for Trombone and Piano at London College of Music.
- Regularly plays at Scottish ceilidhs, social functions and weddings, and has introduced Scottish music to thousands of tourists with his virtuoso accordion playing. On one occasion, he entertained Prince Charles.
- Gary's accordion playing can be heard on his CD: A' The Best From Scotland.
- Gary loves touring abroad and once enjoyed scuba diving on a tour of Oman with The Singing Kettle.
- Awarded the MBE for Services to Children’s Theatre in the Millennium New Year Honours List.
- Gary has three daughters, Gemma, Lisa and Caroline, two of whom are following in Gary’s footsteps. Gemma is a Scottish accordion champion in her age group and she is often joined by her sister, Lisa, on drums.
